Experiencing a global pandemic was never something that anyone was expecting. COVID-19 has created significant hardship on millions of people and impacted how we go about our lives–even the way we mourn loved ones who have passed away. Although some areas are slowly starting to integrate new forms of normalcy, the residents at Shannondale still have visitor restrictions to keep them safe.
The inability to see beloved friends and family members has created sadness amongst many of our residents. Grief is something that can take on many forms and affects everyone differently. A Shannondale, we care deeply for our residents and their feelings during this difficult time, so we partnered with Joy Gaertner, an advanced loss and grief recovery specialist. With Joy’s participation and expertise, we produced a series of videos in an effort to help residents and their families cope with grief during this time.
In this first video in the series, Joy discusses what grief is–the end or change of something that causes a physical and emotional reaction to us. She then walks through the 40 different life experiences that can cause grief, especially for seniors during this time, and how to overcome it.
Although our helpful videos are free to watch, if you’re in need of one-on-one consultations, for a fee, Joy is more than willing to help you overcome the grief that is holding you back from a happier life. To learn more, call (865) 963-9221 or visit her website.
